This year our CPD Regional Cluster events and Committee Conferences are webinars with live Q & A sessions. We are grateful for all the support and help we have had from the local bar associations, the Law Society committees and our speakers. Your support has enabled us to keep our programme of autumn events going and to keep our colleagues updated.
We are missing meeting you all and are already planning face-to-face events for next year. However in the meantime we want you to get the most out of the online events and have compiled some tips which we hope will enhance your experience.
1. Be prepared
If you are going to an onsite event you all turn up early to grab a coffee and to find a comfortable seat. Why not do the same for an online event? Login early, silence your phone, turn off the emails, put up the ‘do not disturb’ sign, make a coffee, grab the biscuits and find a comfortable chair. We recommend you check your audio settings in advance and you may want to wear a headset – it enhances the sound quality.
2. Print the papers
If you are used to having a hard copy of the speakers’ slides and papers in front of you and you like to write notes on them – then go ahead and print them in advance of the webinar. We will aim to email them to you a few days in advance of the event, so you should have time to get this done.
3. Watch with a friend (if possible whilst also observing Covid restrictions)
Are you missing the networking and social side of attending CPD onsite events? Why not watch the webinar with a friend or colleague? To get the CPD points you will each need to register and login separately. If you both log in, one of you can mute the sound on their device and you can both watch the other device. If you watch a webinar with someone else you are likely to be more engaged and less likely to get distracted. Of course you can only watch with a friend if you do so in line with current, relevant Government Covid-19 regulations and guidelines.
4. Get involved
We encourage you to ask questions using the Q&A facility. We will do our best to answer them and it inspires the speakers to know there is someone out there listening!
5. Please complete the online evaluation form.
This is a learning process for us all and we appreciate all feedback.
We hope you find the experience of participating in our webinars enjoyable and informative. For full details of our programme of events and to book your place please see HERE
